How To Help A Secret Keeper

Learn the secrets of Secret–Keeping® by attending our straight-forward seminars that will help make your job easier. We also have ongoing training for counselors already familiar with our ground breaking topics.

Typical topics covered in our seminars:

  • Identify the key characteristics of clients with secret–keeping traits.
  • Differentiate between denial and secret–keeping in order to sharpen treatment planning.
  • Describe the relationship between secret–keeping and self-defeating behaviors such as alcohol/drug abuse, compulsive gambling, eating and sexual disorders, overspending, and more.
  • Specify the common consequences (psychological, physical, and relational) that develop whenever a person's secrets remain hidden (a double life is ongoing) and the corresponding benefits of making secrets known (role of strategic disclosure).
  • Explore assessment and treatment planning techniques in small groups and critique individual efforts.
  • Examine the Seven Effective Stratagies and discuss - using your own anonymous clients as examples in roundtable groups - how these will assist clinicians on-the-job.
"The information I learned in your seminar helped me regain control of my life and will make a difference. I'd like to thank you, John, for all you've done and for committing your life to helping addicts."- Adult Chemically Dependent Treatment Client
